Hurricane Creek runs under I-40 at mile marker 8. It used to be managed as a Hatchery Supported stream, but now is managed as Wild Trout/Natural Bait. Since NCWRC stopped stocking it, I have caught nothing but wild browns. I usually fish it a couple of times a year, and I have yet to be disappointed. There are a few areas that are open, such as the pool above that is right beside the road, but there are also some pretty tight stretches. Most of the fish are in the 7-9 inch range, but I caught this 10-incher beside the rock on the left bank.
